The world’s most perfect auto racing weekend. That’s how the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races presented by Toyota have been described. The premier vintage event in North America boasts 400 of the finest race cars entered in 14 groups spanning every era of motorsports history.
The event is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year and will take place on August 15-17 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The event will salute Alfa Romeo and the special guest will be Mario Andretti. He will participate in a variety of events, including driving laps in his Formula One Championship winning Lotus 79.
Rolex will bring together a selection of historic automobiles in their “Moments in Time’ display including the1938 Alfa Romeo 8C-2900B Mille Miglia Spyder that Phil Hill drove.
This year’s Toyota Race of Legends will put current Panasonic Toyota F1 driver Timo Glock to compete against a field of F1 masters. The eight-lap race features Derek Bell who returns to defend last year’s win against an impressive lineup that includes Eddie Cheever, Johnny Herbert, Jean-Pierre Jarier, Alan Jones, Danny Sullivan, Patrick Tambay and John Watson.
